Advanced cardiac diagnostics — echocardiography, ECG, and ABPM — brought directly to underserved communities across Ghana.
Ghana's first community cardiovascular outcomes registry — data collection begins Q3 2026.
Identifying cardiovascular risk before symptoms arise through structured community screening programs.
Clinical-grade echocardiography, 18-lead ECG, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring at community level.
Mobile cardiac care deployed to underserved communities, removing access barriers to life-saving diagnostics.
Structured pathways connecting screened patients to specialist care, ensuring continuity across the health system.
"To reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in underserved communities through early detection, diagnostic-driven care, structured referral systems, and compassionate service."
Bringing clinical-grade cardiac care to communities historically excluded from specialist services.
Every clinical decision backed by objective, reproducible cardiovascular data — not assumption.
Developing a cardiovascular registry to track outcomes and demonstrate population-level change.
CHD Identification — Systematic congenital and acquired heart disease screening with structured referral pathways.
HFpEF Prevention — Targeting heart failure with preserved ejection fraction through early metabolic risk detection.
Cardio-Metabolic-Renal — Integrated screening addressing the intersection of cardiovascular, metabolic, and renal disease.
Hypertension Management — Community ABPM programs to detect and monitor elevated blood pressure in high-risk groups.
Registry Development — Building Ghana's cardiovascular outcomes registry to guide evidence-based policy and practice.
Clinical-grade cardiovascular diagnostics deployed at community level — precision care without the barrier of tertiary-center access.
Transthoracic echocardiographic assessment of cardiac structure and function. Evaluates ventricular function, valvular disease, pericardial effusion, and congenital abnormalities.
Standard 12-lead and extended 18-lead electrocardiography for comprehensive assessment of cardiac rhythm, conduction abnormalities, ischaemia, and hypertrophy patterns.
24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring to detect white-coat hypertension, masked hypertension, nocturnal dipping patterns, and true hypertensive burden over time.
Structured population-level cardiovascular screening events targeting underserved communities — combining risk stratification, point-of-care diagnostics, and referral coordination.
We are building Ghana's first community-based cardiovascular outcomes registry — enabling systematic data collection, outcome tracking, and evidence-based program refinement.
Longitudinal tracking of screened and treated patients
Measuring mortality reduction and diagnostic yield over time
Quantifying CHD identification rates and referral completion
We are not presenting fabricated statistics. Instead, we are building the infrastructure to generate honest, reproducible cardiovascular impact data for Ghana.
Establishing baseline congenital and structural heart disease rates in underserved populations through systematic screening data.
Documenting the intersection of heart failure, diabetes, hypertension, and renal disease in community screening cohorts.
Tracking how many diagnosed patients successfully reach specialist care — measuring the true impact of our coordination model.
We go to the community — not the other way around. Mobile diagnostic units bring precision cardiac care to where people live and work.
Portable echocardiography and ECG equipment deployed directly to rural and peri-urban communities across Ghana.
ABPM and 12-lead ECG in community settings — clinical precision, zero tertiary-center barrier.
Community-level cardiovascular literacy programs targeting risk factor awareness.
Ensuring diagnosed patients navigate the health system to specialist care with structured follow-up.
Paediatric cardiac screening targeting congenital heart disease in high-burden communities.
Cardiovascular equity requires a coordinated system. BHI partners with hospitals, NGOs, corporate CSR programs, and government health agencies to scale impact.
Referral network integration, shared diagnostic resources, joint outreach programs.
Co-designing community programs targeting shared cardiovascular health goals.
Employee cardiac screening programs and community health sponsorship aligned with CSR goals.
Supporting national cardiovascular health policy with field data and implementation frameworks.

Everything you need to know before coming for a screening or partnering with BHI.
Yes — all BHI community screening events are completely free of charge. This includes echocardiography, 12-lead ECG, ABPM, and blood pressure checks. BHI is a non-profit initiative and all services at outreach events are provided at no cost to the patient.
No referral is needed for community outreach events. Simply register using the form on this page or show up at a scheduled screening event. For individual appointments outside of outreach events, please contact us directly.
After your screening, our clinical team will review your results with you on the same day. If no concerns are found, you will receive a summary and heart health advice. If a cardiac abnormality is detected, we will coordinate a referral to an appropriate specialist and support your navigation through the health system at no additional cost.
Yes. BHI runs a dedicated paediatric cardiac screening programme targeting congenital heart disease (CHD) in children. Parents or guardians can register children for screening at outreach events or contact us to arrange a dedicated paediatric assessment.
BHI partners with hospitals, clinics, NGOs, corporate organisations (CSR programmes), and government health agencies. Use the partnership section on this page or email us at info@bonoheartinitiative.org to start a conversation. We tailor each partnership to the specific goals and capacity of the collaborating organisation.
BHI is committed to full financial transparency. All donations are tracked and reported in our published annual reports, available for download on this website. We are a registered non-profit organisation in Ghana and operate under standard NGO financial governance requirements.
Every contribution directly funds free cardiac screenings, diagnostic equipment, and care coordination for underserved Ghanaians who would otherwise have no access.
